Toxic Love

Toxic Love

A Poem by foxcryptids

Kill me kindly,
in the way only you know how.
I know you want to.
You told me so yourself.
In between the butterfly kisses
your head bent upon mine,
you told me yourself:
I was never meant to live.
I was a beautiful mistake.
I was never meant to breathe.
I was never meant to feel,
never meant to love
or be loved.
But you loved me,
with your eternal strength of will,
and you reminded me,
everyday.
I could never be enough,
but for you
I would have to.

I learned too late
that your love for me
was its own death,
destruction
from the inside-
out.

Reminds me of the old saying about birds of a feather. Somehow, people steeped in negative self feelings find each other. The results can be tragic.
