weight of love

in the scheme of things we were nothing at all
just two people set up for a fall
we saw the end coming this is true
but did it surprise you too?
we said we would forever be
so why did you leave me?
go to the one place I cannot follow
create this sadness i have to swallow
you are gone but never forgotten
even as all my memories start to rotten
you were my one true love
my one gift from above
you would not want me to be sad
you were always trying to make me glad
chase the worry from my face
making my smile never seem out of place
i still remember where we first met
taking my cat to see the vet
you thought she was cute
and i have never been one to refute
if i could go back in time
back to the start of this rhyme
even knowing you will leave
having that knowledge tucked under my sleeve
i would still ask for your name
its not that i love the pain
i just love you
even if the years we spent were few
its still the best years i have ever had
and that will forever make me glad

Awwww this one brought me to tears! It was the perfect combination of sad and beautiful all at the same time. I love the way it expressed the pain of a lost love but at the same time also the hope you found in the memories of that love inspite of it. You are an amazing writer!!!
