Yellow Elm TreeA Poem by Im His DaughterI glance outside in the winter night and this is what i see
I look outside, and what do i see but a very large Yellow Elm tree It is naked and cold no leaves to be seen For it is February colors of brown not green It stands tall and still not a breeze in the air I wonder how long The tree has been there It is -16 All withery and old The street light gleams giving it a glow It is tall and mellow against the dark It's an orangy yellow with brown old bark Guarding the night it is cold outside nothing at stake With a glistening of white it wears a dusting of flakes It is standing tall for what do i see in Glen Elm stands A Yellow Elm Tree
