Gabe

Gabe

A Poem by Im His Daughter

Hello Gabe

it's great to see you today

Hope your day is going great.

You look happy today.

These are the thoughts I say

to myself when you walk in.

I think of how you have an awesome smile

a great personality

A wonderful handsome looking gentleman you are

I know I only know you  as Gabe.

I think of the time you took me home

when those deranged lunatics tried to drag me out

of McDonalds here that one night

Thank you for coming to my aid.

I meant a lot to me.

I see you come in here

your smile lights up the room.

Your friends are happy to see you too.

I sit in my favorite booth

& silently listen to my music

with headphones on.

I occasionally look up & catch you looking my way.

An occasional smile, a wave

nothing more, nothing less.

Its just enough to get me through until next time.

My heart flutters when I see you

but I am 43 & know not to get like a schoolgirl.

I know we would not be a match.

I just enjoy looking at you & enjoy dreaming about you

walking up to me & saying Hi!

I sit here alone

I rarely have any friends sitting with me

mostly just staff because they know me

All are teenagers because they know my son.

You have a great disposition, a charming smile

a pretty great style.

Your hair is like salt & mine is like pepper

I know you are older than me,

probably like 10 years, but I could be wrong.

At any rate, I wish you & I could go on a date.

I won't be asking, that is for sure.

I will just admire you

as I sit here.

I will see you again,

my stranger friend Gabe.

Hope your day is awesome & your week just the same.

Until we see each other again,

in my memory you remain.
