Single Moms

Tammy a friend of mine was a single mom of 7, then she fell off the track into drugs because she had to do it herself, leaving 11 kids with her ex boyfriend who are now in foster care or adults. Kate Gosselin is a single mom of 8 kids, 6 are sextuplets & raising them herself. I am a single mom of 2 who raised them myself from the beginning. No credit to him.

There are a lot of single moms in this world who are single moms whether they did or did not get married. There are very few single moms that chose from conception to be a single mom. Be kind to single moms. Embrace us, love us, hugs us, pray with, for & over us. Include us, befriend us, invite us in. Single moms do the jobs of 2. In a normal house there are 2 parents, 2 nurses, 2 bankers, 2 grocery shoppers.. 4 hands! A single only has 2 hands 1 heart that holds all of her or his children. Some are drivers some are not, some have jobs others don't because they can't afford to work and do childcare even subsidized I wasn't able to. So my kids came to work with me. Some have careers and started out with a nest egg. I didn't. Some are on assistance not by choice but by circumstances. Sometimes those circumstances prevented us from going to school & getting that great paying job. Some worked 4 jobs like my cousin because her hubby didn't help out. I stepped in to care and live with them with my kids in toe to support her.

I was horribly abused in my marriage. I stayed with him for my kids & myself. I eventually got out but have had to live with eyes in the back of my head to remain vigilant. Don't judge us, we already judge ourselves. Don't tell us to not either because we always will. Singles with kids who are adults still are single parents. My kids may or may not be home but I am still a single parent. Accept us for who we are & love us. Most of all pray for us! We are doing our best with what we have & what we are capable of doing.

I always admire single mothers. They are the strongest people I've ever known. Some of my beastest, dear friends are single moms. I always look up to them and am inspired by them. Their inner strength mirrors the sun even during their darkest when they feel like their falling. I admire them for they inspire me. And I will always do what I can to help. A very touching and heartfelt write.
