Empty space in Hearts Play Sad Songs Of Goodbye

Empty space in Hearts Play Sad Songs Of Goodbye

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

A wife and husband try to hang on to a love that has died.

When did our love grow cold?

Ours lips used to tell such a profound love story,

but now words cannot express us any longer.

At night when the world fell asleep we used  to come

to life, but now we lay beside each other hoping against odds we'll find our way back to each other.

Denial keeps us hanging on to what we both know

has faded into a memory.

Bodies that once was passionate with burning embers is now ashes of pain.

Wedding rings that was suppose to bind us forever

lost there connection.

Now eternity means nothing.

On the outside we play house, make-believe we're

still in love, but on the inside we  bleed the end.

Our paths with footprints of romance and love vaished.

Love songs cause heart-ache of no return.

Sad songs reminds us of what we've become.

In the empty spaces of our hearts where love once

resided sad songs play a tune of goodbye.

I often wonder why this situation happens so often. Perhaps true love isn't true at all. Perhaps that's why so few people stay married anymore. Perhaps there is true love that is rare, it only exists when two people are willing to work at making love last, because it is work, and well worth doing. No one can make you happy but yourself but you can be happy with someone just the way they are.

When the wall cave in. Hard to re-gain lost emotion and desire. Poem told a sad story of two people create walls of separation that need a miracle to repair. No weakness in the excellent poem.

Love songs with footprints...oh that really was a intriguing line by itself, but let me not forsake the poem as a whole. It was mystic to say the least, a gleaming jewel.

Loss itself is a crazed sense that we no longer have it in us to keep these things, regardless of what it is, you drove the sense home for all readers, well done, good read.

They say easy come easy go but it is never easy losing a love that once burned so bright. Pretending only makes the feelings grow harsher but we try for the sake of hope.
