The sun rises as morning breaks

Ebullient waves of color paints the horizon

Sweet dreams of the night fades into nightmares of the day

Fairy god-mother sends her back into the cruel world,

where sadness tarnishs happiness,

and all that remains is another Cinderella day

Company of forlorness clothes her

Imagination materalizes a love affair

Intimate nights blossom on into the days

resurrection of love is found,

but when the clock strikes reality all that

remains is another Cinderella day

Servant of hatred

Slave to life

Poverty sparkles like diamonds to the rich

Satin dreams turn to a frivolous shine

All that is left is another Cinderella day

When the sun sets, and night falls

Mr. sand man visits

He sends her to a land of dreams,

where anything is possible

An imaginary man becomes prince charming

Hope opens like a spring-time flower

Cinderella is at peace

The  nights become a jamboree,

an invitation to be free

Until day light shines her fairy god-mother awakens

her to another Cinderella day

Sweet dreams of the night turn into nightmares of the day

A very sad tale yet a very real one for a lot of people. There are a lot of Cinderellas out there hoping for their Prince Charming. I really enjoyed reading your poem.

I enjoyed this poem. Sadly, for a lot of people living in their self-created dream world is much better than the true world. They escape in the dreams.

A real life Cinderella tale. In dreams we can do great things. Sad part we must awake and face the world. Thank you for the excellent poem.

The first verse is strong and I like the idea of 'Cinderella day'. There is a really clever reveral going on there as the norm, the old cliche is 'and they I woke up and realised it was all just a dream.'
Ach, you work it well, 'When the clock strikes reality' I also like very much. I like the dismout at the end of the poem too. 10.10.10

I love this. Escaping into dreams can be wonderful but when we have to face reality again....

An outstanding poem. I really enjoyed reading this.

Those born into wealth and privilege have no real concept of reality or life. I think they all need a day without a fairy tale life to appreciate what they have.

nice descriptions!

and the last line is my fav; it actually ties up the poem's ending

A bit of a unique twist on Cinderella, since most of us never think about her life before she met her Prince Charming. It was excellently written in a way that the reader could relate to a poor girl dreading her life and dreaming of something more. My favorite line would have to be the last, "Sweet dreams of the night turn into nightmares of the day." Thank you.
