Embodiment of greed represents her personality

Condescending ways leads her astray

A pinched heart allows no one in

The light that once shone in her eyes has turned to black

Night slowly descends

She longs for peaceful solitude

Images of light disturb slumber

Apparition appears in the dark

Long hair as white as snow in the coldness of winter

Red striped candy canes apparel his beard

Nostalgic eyes stare at her in disbelief

The Ghost Of Christmas Past, Present and future stands  at her feet

Reality fades as she is lifted back in time

Scenes of adolescent days shimmer by

Smiles and giggles escape a young girl

A cheerful heart was full of glee

Back when life was so carefree

With a puff of his pipe past desolves into present

Warmth freezes into ice

People she has wronged sneers in her face

Money that could have went to charity is hidden away

Eyes blink and his hands clap, future appears in a snap

The candy canes weaved in his beard are labled with each wrong deed she has done

One by one they claw at her,

Points to a grave that indicates her destiny

A plea forms in her throat

Tears fall like rain

She knows she can change

thunder roars, lightening flashs

Her own screams brings her out of a trance

A new day dawning, a renewal of hope and life

Christmas time did not pass her by

A visit from a ghost intervene in her life

No offense but I Hate Santa Clause. Like the poem though...! He, or the belief in him has nothing to do with what Christmas is really about. Sorry, this is not meant as an attack on your poem. I like the twists you put in it and pain felt through out the piece until she wakes and realizes that she did not miss Christmas and still has time to change.

I like the story. I like the wisdom in the poem that can be learn. Life can be hard. But we must be thankful for the good people and things in a life. I like the ending to the outstanding poem.

They're timeless, wonderful stories that are loved by most everyone. Let us hope that greed will turn to compassion and generosity the world over.

Merging Santa and the Scrooge theme is a unique way of writing this piece. There are many strong emotions and descriptions in this piece.
