The Mansion On The HillsideA Poem by KATHY SUE SILLSFor the Creative Poetry Group
The mansion sats on the hillside Water crashes on the rocks below Fog covers the darken earth A full moon hangs in the sky An eerie feel surrounds the palace
She stands on the balcony over looking the spectacular view Home sweet home Eyes peer from a darken corridor Tongue licks lips
Her flesh prickles with goose bumps A feeling of impending doom creeps up her spine Wolves howl in the distance Wind shrieks through barren trees Their branches waving as if trying to grasp someone
Stairs creak as feet step on each step Breath catches in her throat Sounds of moaning echo off the walls The moon spills light from an open window Something moves in the room up ahead
She hovers in a cornor Frozen with fear Thunder crackles Lightning flashes The beat of her heart vibrates her chest
A door sqeaks open Reality vanishes Standing before her a vampire He shows his fangs "Welcome to my home," Dracula hisses Her screams mingle with the howling wolves and wind
