The VoiceA Poem by KATHY SUE SILLSA young woman depressed turns to suicide.
Debris of despair disrupts her mind She looks into a mirror Reflections of affliction stares back at her Depression wrinkles her complexion Lost in her own world, She feels alone "I'm here," whispers a voice
Tears no longer able to fall Dried like a river in a summer drought The sun shines outside, But she sees only the murky darkness of gloom Light of hope fizzles out "Take my hand," whispers a voice
A mural of mishaps paints her soul She is her own prosecuter No punishment is too good Death sings to her in a siren's tone "Live," the voice whispers
Thoughts of suicide decompose her brain Sleeping pills beacon to her Death is her compass, Direction to peace "LIVE!" shouts the voice
A translucent figure stands before her A friendly presence of love and calm A voice of hope and help She bows her head in prayer Scenery of what her life could be flash before her "Live," murmurs her Guardian Angel
