Waiting Patiently

A true love right under her nose.

 

Heart empty and cold

Feelings of loneliness is overwhelming

She needs someone to hold

Eyes search for that special man

To have and to hold

 

After all this time

She still does not see

He is right there

Waiting patiently

 

Dates she has been on

Just acquaintances

Out for fun

No one looking for commitment

Is there anyone?

He has loved her forever

Why can't she see he is the man she seeks?

His heart is out there waiting to be complete

Only if she will let it be

She sees him only as a friend

Someone to hang out with

He wants to be more

The man she makes love to

He searches her eyes for clues of recognition

She smiles at him

Lips lightly touch hers

Time stands still

What is that she feels?

The thing that I love about your poems is that they improve with each one you write. This has been my favourite poem so far. I'm sort of in this situation myself. The girl I really, really care for is with this guy who has become one of my friends - which I never thought would happen to begin with - but he treats her decently, and she has a nice time with him; I just wish it was me, getting to hold her, laugh with her more than just a friend. I really hope you keep up your poems because they just wonderfully crafted, powerful, and leaves a lovely message for everyone caught in a similar position. Great work on creating a unique and beautiful poem on love. Thanks for sharing
