Mourning Into Darkness

Mourning Into Darkness

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Grief takes hold of a wife after her husband passes o.n

"

She was captivated by his love.

His charm was like a necklace gracing her neck.

He was the summary of her life,

the ryhthm that kept her in tune.

Since his death blinds are drawn to the

windows of her soul,

she's  mourning into darkness.

Sorrowful tears are her wardrobe.

              Pain her crown.

              Grief her sanctuary.

              Solitude her destiny.

Anger and sadness interlock,

causing her heart to shatter.

She lays on his side of the bed

in his contour.

Passionate nights passed gone

embrace her.

Dreams onced shared left unsong torment her sleep.

A boarding pass to happiness, a road

that leads to healing she seeks.

Memories of him speak to her like

a beacon in the night, urging her to live.

Mirror of hope reflects in her heart.

Mercy drops of healing smiles down on her.

A household of strength she grasp.

Each moment of each day she breaths

life back into a lifeless body.

She becomes stronger.

Slowly the blackness rises like fog after

a rain storm.

Standing high on the mountain of freedom, she feels redeemed from grief.

The storm is over.

The sun shines.

Life goes on, she must choose to live it.

The mourning always hurts, but knowing they live within the heart helps to heal.

Sometimes losing someone dear to you can make you bitter and numb for a long time and the one day it is like the fog has lifted and you are able to breath and think again without feeling pain.

Sometimes the hardest choice in life is to continue on when you lose someone so close. It is a choice worth choosing when the time is right.
