Mourning Into Darkness

Mourning Into Darkness

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Grief takes hold of a wife after her husband passes o.n

"

She was captivated by his love.

His charm was like a necklace gracing her neck.

He was the summary of her life,

the ryhthm that kept her in tune.

Since his death blinds are drawn to the

windows of her soul,

she's  mourning into darkness.

Sorrowful tears are her wardrobe.

              Pain her crown.

              Grief her sanctuary.

              Solitude her destiny.

Anger and sadness interlock,

causing her heart to shatter.

She lays on his side of the bed

in his contour.

Passionate nights passed gone

embrace her.

Dreams onced shared left unsong torment her sleep.

A boarding pass to happiness, a road

that leads to healing she seeks.

Memories of him speak to her like

a beacon in the night, urging her to live.

Mirror of hope reflects in her heart.

Mercy drops of healing smiles down on her.

A household of strength she grasp.

Each moment of each day she breaths

life back into a lifeless body.

She becomes stronger.

Slowly the blackness rises like fog after

a rain storm.

Standing high on the mountain of freedom, she feels redeemed from grief.

The storm is over.

The sun shines.

Life goes on, she must choose to live it.

ahhh I think this line says it all "He was the summary of her life," what an idea - and the mountains of freedom too - very nice!!

Thank you for a powerful poem. I could feel the struggle to find purpose and new dreams. To lose someone special. Can leave us weak and confused. I like the positive ending. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

A time which I dread and think about a lot as I get older. You went through the waves of emotions here so vividly that I almost wept.
It was almost like relief when the light at the end of the emotional tunnel, was in sight as the storm was over and the sun shone.
I loved this and will keep it.
Thanks for share

Its the full circle and proof of the addage that time heals. A great trip through that rough patch that we can all identify with and usually more than a couple of times during our lives. Very well put and beautifull written. Loved it.

A very tragic and heartbreaking tale. Losing someone you love and being left alone is a hellish pain to have to try and endure. I think this is great!

As a widow, I can honestly say you have penned well what one goes through and the rebirth that can happen if one allows, into their soul. I like this
