Living With Mr. D

Living With Mr. D

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Living with a changed man.

"

When did you become Mr. D?

Eyes dark and hateful stare at me.

Charming you used to be.

A drunk you are now.

The man I married is gone.

Was he ever real?

Disguised as someone you're not.

When did you become Mr. D?

Drill master hissing out orders.

Discipline was harsh if felled to obey.

Disloyal you are.

Sleeping with any girl you can.

Your nothing but dirt.

Brightness has faded.

Desperate eyes look at me.

Are you feeling hopeless?

Welcome to my use to be world.

Your voice is like a dial tone to my ears.

I no longer will listen to your demands.

A stronger woman stands before you.

You can no longer disintegrate me.

Dust particles you have become.

The only D I want from you is a divorce.

Good-bye Mr D, the devil from hell!

It reads true and hits a little too close to home.

A rather scary situation to be in, having the person you thought you loved become a monster right before you eyes. This is really good work, I think you did a wonderful job.

Sometimes people do change for the worse and its always leaves the other person to wonder what the he*% happened? I think you did a wonderful job capturing that in your poem and divorce is the best recourse if the person is abusive. Awesome write!

unmasking is the turning point of all relationships...sometimes the mask comes off right away...sometimes months, years, or decades...the trick is whether we accept who the wearer really is within all that black bubbling goo
