Living With Mr. D

Living With Mr. D

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Living with a changed man.

"

When did you become Mr. D?

Eyes dark and hateful stare at me.

Charming you used to be.

A drunk you are now.

The man I married is gone.

Was he ever real?

Disguised as someone you're not.

When did you become Mr. D?

Drill master hissing out orders.

Discipline was harsh if felled to obey.

Disloyal you are.

Sleeping with any girl you can.

Your nothing but dirt.

Brightness has faded.

Desperate eyes look at me.

Are you feeling hopeless?

Welcome to my use to be world.

Your voice is like a dial tone to my ears.

I no longer will listen to your demands.

A stronger woman stands before you.

You can no longer disintegrate me.

Dust particles you have become.

The only D I want from you is a divorce.

Good-bye Mr D, the devil from hell!

This should be a song. I like the directness and honest words. I like poem like this one. Using a letter. Create a poem with strength and a real purpose. I like the ending. Thank you for this outstanding poem. Made me smile this early morning.

i love this (: its so strong and i love the repitition of the d; disloyal, disguised, drill master, ect. and i also love the emotion behind it and how blunt it is, its not fluffed up at all but just 'these are the facts, suck it, bye.' its great

A very chilling poem. It's scary to see the one you fell in love with, marry and want to spend the rest of your life with change so much. Now that's real horror!

I love how you used the title for this poem. Mr. D could stand for so many things. This was done with thought and plan. I love the descriptions in this poem and the last two lines show a strong fiery woman refusing to take the abuse anymore.
