Spread Some Kindness

Spread Some Kindness

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

People showing kindness to someone who needs it.

"

She stands on the beach.

Self confidence and respect for herself has vanished.

Words he had thrown at her pounds her memory,

like a hail storm pounds the earth.

An air plane captures her attention.

A sign trailing behind the plane reads:

You're a great person,

don't think other wise.

An irridescent smile lightens her face.

She feels happier and carefree.

A young boy sits on a park bench,

feeling unloved and unwanted.

His parents are divorcing,

each blames him.

The turmoil is drowning him.

He seeks a life vest to keep him afloat.

A minister walks up and sits next to him.

They begin to talk.

"God loves you, son," the minister tells him.

Sudden love over powers his soul.

A teen age girl in the hospital about

to give birth to her first child.

Her parents has disowned her,

and her boyfriend has ran off and left her.

The pain feels as if it's crumbling her insides,

like an earthquake crumbles buildings.

She closes her eyes to try and regain composure.

An ordely enters her room,

takes her hand in a kind gesture.

He helps her through her labor.

She feels joyful for once about the birth of her child.

An alcoholic comes out of a liquor store.

He struggles not to take that first sip.

He's lost his job, wife and kids.

He's on the brink of suicide.

A lady walks up to him,

and introduces herself.

She to is a recovering alocholic.

They go to an AA meeting together.

His strength is slowly coming back.

An obese lady sits in a resturant.

She hates her body,

it's nothing but a cell.

The bar doors are locked.

Parol is not forth coming.

A girl she used to go to school with

comes over and sits with her.

They begin to talk.

"You're beautiful inside and out," she told her.

All the sudden she felt beautiful.

In this dying world everyone could use some kindness.

Share some kindness.

Lend a helping hand.

Give comfort and recieve comfort.

That was really great. It always helps - I think - when someone is there to make your day brighter, happier, even when you're feeling down. I liked how imaginative this piece was, and it felt like you could easily create several stories and weave them together to become a novel. It was wonderful to read and had the up-lifting emotion I sometimes feel when watching a particular movie. Great work and keep up the good work

very nice!! everyone has their bad times - the darkest moments when all else seems unbearable - being disowned, unloved etc - but there is always that light at the end of the tunnel - you convey this very well - a Samaritan to help them find that light!! nice!
