Memories In The Crystal Ball

Memories In The Crystal Ball

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Pondering memories

"

The brain is like a crystal ball that memories pass through.

We ponder them each day.

Loveable memories are nestled in the cleft of our hearts

for safe keeping.

Hurtful memories burn deep, searing the soul,

leaving opened wounds.

O happy memories heal our wounds that we may

be whole once again.

We count our memories one by one,

to see what life has done.

Memories are infinite.

Some we wish to dispose of,

others we wish to maintain forever.

Redemption from the bad memories we seek.

Our eyes are transfixed on the crystal ball.

We smile

We cry

We're happy

We're sad

Standing on the stormy banks of memories,

surface becomes slippery.

We fall in the depth of sadness.

Reaching up we try to pull free.

Grasping hold of tiny specks of happy memories,

refusing to let them escape.

Do not cater to bad memories any longer.

Let the good memories unfold,

blossom into a beautiful picture to nature into

hope and happiness.

For life is memories,

and memories are life.

"Let the good memories unfold" what excellent advice! Memories are indeed "nestled in the cleft of our hearts". I love the way it explores all the different types of memories and presents the effects they have on us with strong images. Thank you for sharing this.

You bring about such a depth of emotion... the pain and pleasure.. the good and the bad that fills our experience and moves through us each day.. looking back.. remembering... and you let us know we can cling to those recollections that stir the joy and hope to move on. Beautiful.

Fantastic mature theme of Memories. Crisp poem that rattles along, works well with the elder reader. Like me, I have a trillion such memories and know exactly what the writer is saying.

Wonderful metaphor. There are times when I think threw the day and wonder hoe things could have been different.

Wow, this is beautiful. Honest, open, heartfelt, and so uplifting. I truly love those last two lines. They mean a lot to a lot of folks I'm sure. Your ending fit the piece perfectly, and the piece led up to the ending perfectly.
