Candy Man

Candy Man

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Candy reminds a lady of her times with her husband.

"

My candy dish is full of sugary sweet treats.

Each piece holds symbolic meaning for me.

New York Pepper Mint Pattys take me back

to a snow filled day, just you and me playing

around in the white crystal field.

Pastel colored skittles in rainbow colors hold

the memory of the spring rain shower we got caught in.

The big bold rainbow that appeared afterwards,

was so elegant and beautiful.

We stood in awe.

Cry-baby sour bubble gum and coconut haystacks

are a delightful treat.

It was even more a delight when you proposed to

me behind a bail of hay, I cried  like a baby.

Bit-O-Honey is just as special, because each

time I pop the sweet tid bid in my mouth I

think of you husband, my honey.

Dark chocolate hershey kisses are rich and delectable,

but not as potent as the kisses you share with your

tasty lips.

I giggle everytime I reach for a kit kat bar, my nick

name you gave to me one night in the car.

Fireballs are firey and red hot, heats up my mouth

like we heat up in bed with love, passion and desire.

When I reach for a sugary treat, and find the candy

dish empty, you stand there with a smile.

I reach for you and hold you tight, my sweet

sugar daddy with all my might.

Ahh. Such a sweet poem. I love the progression. Perhaps a few spelling / grammer mistakes e.g. Take(s) me back; Hold(s) the memory and purpose/ propose? Coconut haystacks ARE a delightful treat. These changes don't affect the poem which is delicious! Well done

Er...the comparison's are fine... though read some poetry. It'll help you construct it better.

This is fun, two sweets that can be very hard to resist. Very creative, I sure enjoyed this one. Candy can hold memories, that's for sure!

Oh man...you have no idea. Last time I was in San Fran, went to that candy store on the wharf and bought thirty dollars worth of old school candy....made my bag for the flight home a little heavy...lol. I loved this, waves of nostalgia mixed with a bit of heady romance. Nice write.

That's brilliant. Even easier to read now as long as you don't get offended at corrections.

It's delightful and saucy at the same time. My favorite was the fireballs. Very clever and fun poem.

( Propose I think )

Lovely sweet poem, from a loving Wife to her Husband, the use of candy is a pleasant way to remember those important times, and made for a splendid poem.
