Candy Man

Candy Man

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Candy reminds a lady of her times with her husband.

"

My candy dish is full of sugary sweet treats.

Each piece holds symbolic meaning for me.

New York Pepper Mint Pattys take me back

to a snow filled day, just you and me playing

around in the white crystal field.

Pastel colored skittles in rainbow colors hold

the memory of the spring rain shower we got caught in.

The big bold rainbow that appeared afterwards,

was so elegant and beautiful.

We stood in awe.

Cry-baby sour bubble gum and coconut haystacks

are a delightful treat.

It was even more a delight when you proposed to

me behind a bail of hay, I cried  like a baby.

Bit-O-Honey is just as special, because each

time I pop the sweet tid bid in my mouth I

think of you husband, my honey.

Dark chocolate hershey kisses are rich and delectable,

but not as potent as the kisses you share with your

tasty lips.

I giggle everytime I reach for a kit kat bar, my nick

name you gave to me one night in the car.

Fireballs are firey and red hot, heats up my mouth

like we heat up in bed with love, passion and desire.

When I reach for a sugary treat, and find the candy

dish empty, you stand there with a smile.

I reach for you and hold you tight, my sweet

sugar daddy with all my might.

Ahh. Such a sweet poem. I love the progression. Perhaps a few spelling / grammer mistakes e.g. Take(s) me back; Hold(s) the memory and purpose/ propose? Coconut haystacks ARE a delightful treat. These changes don't affect the poem which is delicious! Well done

Yes I love poems like this that connect ordinary objects too a life span. It gives a vision of a sweet happy childhood. Coconut Haystacks! Did you have them in the USA too? Fabulous and scrummy! I find smells trigger memories in a similar way to sweet tastes. Lovely work and you kept your teeth! Well done my little wordsmith twinny.

So lovey dovey. Not read something so sweet in awhile. It's as sweet as the candy talked about during the poem. I enjoyed it very much.

A 'sweet' list poem with a loving message! All those poetic sweet names are great. Except 'skittles' and 'kit kat', they are all new to me (from the UK).

A very nice poem. I like the ending a lot. We need to treat out number two with appreciation and love. Greta description and a positive ending. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

It WAS fun - and I enjoyed the idea that each sweet has a memory that is special... and that the best sweet of all is saved until last... Mmm...a treat!
