My EverythingA Poem by KATHY SUE SILLSfeelings of despair enters a woman when she fears she's lost her husband.
She stands on the sandy beach enclosed by the voices in her head. It's your fault he left. He won't be back. You should have listened to his pleading words. The roaring waves does nothing for her fragile mind.
Looking out toward the ocean, rays sparkle the horizon as the sun rises up over the blue sea. Warmth penetrates her face, heating her skin. The voices prevail, winning over her sanity, sending her deeper and deeper within herself. Without him she's nobody, she has nothing.
Unable to contain the force inside her, head raised toward heaven she screams for forgiveness. Anger boils within her for not listening to his pleas. He has to come back. She has to be given the chance to redeem herself.
Hunger for him gnaws her insides. Desire hotter than the sun flames her being. She'll move heaven and earth to make it right with him. Just to feel his body in her embrace once again will make her world shine.
Tilting her head she listens. Is her name being called? She turns, her breath catches in her throat. He stands there looking forlorn. Tears blur her vision as she runs toward him. Sweet relief enters her as he takes her in his arms. She whispers, "you're my everything."
