Feeling Alive

Feeling Alive

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

A person dying, but trying to live to the fullest!

"

Death is knocking at my door;

I'm not ready yet!

So many things left to do,

living is what I must choose!

Take a walk on the beach,

hear the roaring of the waves.

The ocean breeze flapping my hair

while I walk barefoot in the sand,

feeling alive!

Getting weaker, but I must go on.

Take a ride on the roller coaster

at the county fair.

I raise my hands up high

as we decend down hill,

feeling alive!

The time is getting closer.

I must prepare!

I bow my head and say a prayer,

feeling alive!

Now I must say goodbye.

I  walk through the tunnel of light.

I see heaven's gate!

I'm feeling alive!

Just a poem that came to me on living while you know your dying! The peace you feel once you see heaven's gate.

What a profoundly moving write, taking us into the courage of a heart near the end.. and near the beginning... It made me realize it could be that day for any of us... How will we then live?

We must live life to the fullest for it is short and we never truly know when it will come to an end. this is a great poem about living before it is too late. Love the ending

One must celebrate life to the fullest
even more so when their time is short.
a sad but lovely write indeed....

Death is a process and it amazes me how when faced with it, people are strong enough to accept it. I am not ready to accept it at all, not yet anyway. So in my mind I plan on leaving on earth for ever. Is dying really feeling alive? I like the question and answer your poem presents.

Death is the last great mystery. Life is precious. In our last moment we will realize how much we will miss when we are gone. I like the story in the poem. The ending is the hope of all people. A outstanding poem.

I can relate to this piece, there was a time I got in the self pity mode but realize there’s more to life, here your describing the simple things some take for granted. Excellent write.

Very joyous in the spirit of living to the fullest at any point in one's life, with the knowledge that any day could be your last...
