The Tomb Is Empty

The Tomb Is Empty

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Crown of Cinquains a garland, about Jesus

"
                    Jesus
                 The son of God
              Born to be crucified
On an old, rugged cross for us
                  He died

                  He died
               For you and me
            For sins we committed
Transgressions He paid on the cross
                 He bled

                 He bled
               On Good Friday
           He could have saved Himself
But He loved us too much to fight
                He hung

                He hung
           Death couldn't stop Him
           The rock was moved away
        Resurrection morning, He arose
                 He lives

                  He lives
               For everyone
Give your heart to Him now
Salvation will set us all free
                  Our gift

                  Jesus
             For you and me
       He could have saved Himself
   Resurrection morning, He arose
                Our gift

You did a nice job of highlighting the parable. --- Yes, a life of hardship for the everlasting reward of eternal life.

Thank you for stopping by!
Right off the bat I was happy to see someone write a crown. And as I read I thought your wordplay was an excellent bridge between them. I feel like the crown, and if you really go for it, a garland is a challenging profound way to express your thoughts. Something about the rhythm the form creates adds to the words. Your crown would be interesting with the sixth to make a garland. The sixth is made up of your 5. It would go like this...

Jesus
for you and me
He could have saved himself
Resurrection morning, he arose
His gift

Almost reads perfect! That's the trick to the garland. Write the 5 knowing which lines jump to the last.

I think you're pretty spot on. We were taught this when I went to catholic school.
