Till Death Do Us Part

Till Death Do Us Part

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

A grieving widow Lones to be with her husband!

"
She watched the sunrise in shades of him
Landscape of memories traced back in time
Laughter echoing off the summer breeze
At the present moment she relishes the sound
The corners of her soul clings to every recollection
Without them her breath would falter into thin air
     Wilted grief never fully fades
With each tomorrow brings a new sunrise and sunset
A time to wrap her loneliness into remembering him
She no longer lives in the present,
but in the past where he still lives
His scent wakens the tears that dried up on her pillow
Crying only makes her realize the ach is real
No tomorrows will paint no pictures of them together
As the sun melts into a full moon,
Her heart serenades a wishful lullaby
When she lays her head down to sleep,
tomorrow she would wake and be with him

I can feel the emotion in this heartbreaking poem. I lost my husband in 2015 and experienced a lot of different emotions. I never expected to love again, but three years later, my first boyfriend came back into my life. We're in our early 70's so I know I may have to face a loss some day. Hopefully not.

Beautifully romantic, sensuous, poem and painting. Exceptional imagery. The sad loss of a love is keenly expressed here.

Wowser! (A time to wrap her loneliness into remembering him She no longer lives in the present, but in the past where he still lives) Too many beautiful people live in the past when nothing can be done to change things. You wrote of it so well. ~Sharon

Thank you, Miss Sharon!
Your lines here remind me of my sister who was widowed last year. Trying to work her way through grief. One step forwards, two back. A poignant piece of writing.

Thank you so much!
For many years, I mourned a friend who took her own life. Summer sunsets evoked her memory, as did big band music. Over time, I made peace with my new life. But sometimes...
Heartfelt, my friend. Beauty.

I can’t help but wonder if you straight up stared at a sunset as you wrote this. It’s beautiful, shining golden and with so much emotion and story. Breathtaking. An absolutely amazing, emotional read that I loved. Thank you so much for sharing.
