In Her Grasp She Holds Herself

In Her Grasp She Holds Herself

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Tears collapse into sobs, leaving a rainbow disheartened

"

                      Pain aching upon itself

Her breathing becomes discontented

Fighting is impaired

The sun used to emit light,

but now seeps blackness

Tears collapse into sobs,

leaving a rainbow  disheartened

A voice cries in silent muteness

The world obscures itself from her presence

All tomorrows languish away into barrenness

Existence  asphyxiates life

Ambivalence absorbs lingering strength

Hope is unresponsive

Her hands grasp a depleted body,

willing herself to live

This is such a great piece. You paint out the dark side of emotions so well. So terrifying and real yet hope remains. Love this.

You are welcome.
There have been times just recently when I felt like I just want to give up on life, but through friendship and the people I meet in work on a daily basis, it keeps me going. It feels horrible at times to feel so alone, even when you feel like the loneliest person on the planet. There is always something that keeps you going and that's hope, even if bleak at times, there is always hope for something better. Very thought provoking

Thank you! I have been there before too, many times!
Many times, I have found myself, in this situation, Kathy, wishing for the pain to end. Especially, after being rejected by my mom, for being honest about myself, to her, in coming out of the closet, as being trans. I wish, no one has to experience this type of pain, in their lives. Thank you, Kathy, for sharing this poem, with us.

Thank you!
I don't know if a rainbow can cry, but if it could, if it could feel, if it could rain it's color, I think these words are the tears it would shed, the pain it would feel and the colors would fall, each to their own. one sad, long drop of each shad and hue at a time until all the area under that rainbow was covered in its happiness. Because even if a rainbow could feel, I don't think that it would be pain and it raindown happiness upon us.

It was my pleasure.
This was a great convenience of a tough place to be.... We are dealt a lot of pain and strive. But our will is often the greatest thing. Good words here

I love your message here! It's a gentle, instead of a determined reminder to persuade us to live on.
