New Beginnings

New Beginnings

A Poem by T. Jay Keigh

On the untouched road,

I stood before it,

a place no one knew.

It was quiet and still

and sunlight shown

through the treetops

like beams of raindrops
.
I closed my eyes,

and the air became an inhaler

that I breathed into my soul.

Then the birds began to sing

and creatures rustled leaves.

I looked straight ahead

and took the first step.
