Say No 2 Perfection!

Say No 2 Perfection!

A Poem by Tyrae'
"

Striving for perfection shouldn't take up your life and who you are.

"

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks,

I should always be myself.

When it comes down to it,

I have to live with my own decisions,

I have to deal with my actions,

I have to determine my fate.

People say so many things about me.

Some are "friendly" jokes,

Some are whispered opinions.

"You're an awkward dancer."

(doesn't mean I should stop dancing in public)

"You're forehead's too big."

(doesn't mean I should hide it with bangs.)

"You're too skinny, you should eat more."

(I am healthy the way I am, doesn't mean I should gain weight to have curves.)

"Look at how she dresses, why is she wearing that?"

(doesn't mean I should conform to society to fit in.)

'She's too clingy."

(doesn't mean I should stop showing or giving my love to others.)

"You're too white on the inside, stop acting black."

(I am black. that's how I am.)

I'm not perfect...

perfection is what most of us strive for,

but how long with it take us to reach that perfection,

and what do we expect to obtain from that perfection?

Perfect Happines?

I'm just going to be myself and stop pushing so hard for perfection.

I don't have to fit in.

I don't have to sharpen my edges if I am truly a circle.

People that like me for me will be attracted to me.

And that way, I'll obtain perfect happiness.
