Disfunctional?

Disfunctional?

A Story by Fake Name
"

Not really a fully formed thought... came to me out of nowhere.

"

“You can’t stay in that basement forever, Charlie!” he screamed through the door, banging on it with his fists. In the dark, Charlie heard his older brother yelling at him - he just refused to acknowledge him. The basement was his refuge. If only it was soundproof, he thought. Daniel kicked the door one last time and gave up. Charlie looked up at the door and was waiting for his brother’s voice to shatter the silence again. Nothing happened. He looked a little relieved and relaxed. The room around him had been transformed into a fort constructed of blankets and pillows. Charlie crawled inside and turned on a lamp.

It was the world Charlie turned to when things became hard to handle, like when Harry, his mom's boyfriend, yelled at him. That's actually the reason he was down there, and Daniel knew it, too.
