The Lonely Butterfly

The Lonely Butterfly

A Poem by Iliana Peters

I wish that I would get away,
I crave to flay away,
To anywhere but here.

Because you,
Who is so lost in their own space,
So ready to give up their place,
Will soon disappear.

You're a butterfly on a stormy day,
Getting pulled down by the rain,
Your wings flutter and you're
struggling to be free,
And you're half way dead,
But you lean on me

And your sadness once caught my eye,
Now its stripped me of faith as the times
gone by,
You wont let me be,
I won't leave you alone,
You're my only place,
I'm your only home

Blood pouring from your veins,
You've done it before,
You'll do it again,
And if the white light keeps flashing up,
At least slip away quickly,
All the best of luck.

And if you do get away with a smile on your face,
If you finally do it and you leave this place,
Then please don't haunt me,
No more ghosts in my room,
Let me live my life peacefully,
Let me live me life soon.

This seems to be a post full of deep love and bitter regret. To love, support then, wake from m a be
wildering almost tortured past is a relief and yet.. again, regret. Your phrasing pauses at times, ' ..You wont let me be, I won't leave you alone, You're my only place, I'm your only home (a wonderfully laid sentence!)

There's such an empathic finish..both thoughtful although considered. Words whispered, rather than, shouted. ' ..You're a butterfly on a stormy day, Getting pulled down by the rain, Your wings flutter and you're struggling to be free, '

The impression is of one who has been involved in a draining relationship with a needy person who has hooked into them. It appears the thing started out of sympathy and a desire to help, but has deteriorated into a type of dependency that is sucking the life out of the speaker. The impression is also of manipulation by a suicide attempt. This has the signs of one who has been involved with someone who has a borderline personality disorder and now wants out of it. My advice is to get out of it ASAP.

always we find it when we can't help them... but learning this before; cheering from the bleachers... believe me, it's never a matter just one can handle.. whatever you try.. but the poesy: had a flow, straight from a sense of idea about the whole work at once, complete, but a little less effective...
