Second Chance

Second Chance

A Poem by Iliaad Manaii

Although I’m here,

I feel some parts of me that died forever then.

You took my voice, ability to speak or yell.

And then I buried all the faith leftover,

Deeply, sans return or farewell.

But I’m alive. I scream- I hear.

The black quit covering my eyes

So why imagine day to day

How on my neck your hand still lies.

When you come close enough to death,

survival doesn’t seem so real

Whatever gets a second life

Will never feel alive as erenow

I walk, I talk, I finally breath

My body’s filled with lively functions.

You shoot me once, There’s two wounds still

And only one filled up its hollows.

It sounds like the enemy failed to dissolve the spirit within you. That scar will never go away but its a reminder that strength can always prevail.
