A Piteous Story

A Piteous Story

A Poem by Abigail Alliah

There was a girl so lovely she thought all the world was him

but they parted so dramatically when came their break and end.

To the self-inflicted pain, he began to pile more

and took on a new hypocracy in slamming friendship's door.

She had known of how things would progress but couldn't say a word

and tried to box up her insecurities as a last-ditch to preserve.

But soon enough they were done forever, and she began to know

that only she was not allowed backstage to his most brilliant shows.

She needed him from time to time but alas, he didn't care,

to the crying and pained breathing he pretended unaware.

So began many more projects where she'd patch her beaten soul

but the challenge to act as if full-healed began to make her cold.

Outside her, life passed by and she felt utterly alone,

for the only promise she'd believed was turning her to stone.

Eventually she realized he didn't want her in his life,

and though she asked God to heal things, powerfully remains the strife.

In her head an empty vase displays the trust that died away,

how his compassion for her withered and was removed one solemn day.

The illusion of his friendship now contains an empty heart,

he doesn't know the pain's long from over,

he only knows the littlest part.

I welcome guessing the in-depth story here. Everything has more than one interpretation, but alas, this is a true story, and if you would like to guess it, I will tell you how close you come.
