Always a Thursday

Always a Thursday

A Poem by Abigail Alliah
"

story and rhyme scheme inspired from 'Paintbrush', a poem in Chicken Soup for the Soul on Love and Friendship. But its still my own story.

"

Each day i live more lies,

wherever i may go
i carry fake things with me

so the real me doesn't show
i'm so afraid to tell you

all the things i feel inside
afraid you just won't understand

and from me always hide
but believe me i'd like nothing more

than to show you the real, true me
but you can't imagine how i fear

you won't like what you see

but if you show me kindness
and tell me that you care
i will begin to be open,

and with you, my secrets share
 riend, though i'm very flawed,

you've loved me very true
but i feel you never showed me this

or showed me deep in you
but friend, i still really care,

and hate to call youjust friend
but you won't share secrets with me,

and i hope your heart can mend

while mine is having trouble,

i pull back out the lies
and i hope you heal alright,

though my own nights fill with cries
i might never show the real me again,

because i feel that we have changed
i just know that something has,

though i don't know whovto blame

that night something was awkward,

you were not kind or you
and all i hope is you don't feel you need a paintbrush too

Wow. Freaky, but good! It was interesting and made me think, in a way, of the main character of J.D. Robb's "In Death" series. Good work!

Wow, that many rhyming lines, and no awkward Bob Dylan-like nonsense of forced lines. I must tip my hat, that is not anything I can accomplish. But you don't have to be someone else around me.

"Each day i live more lies,

This first stanza drew me in straight away. I enjoyed the read of this wonderful
heartfelt and honest poem. Well done!
