Cold and Heavy Silent Golden Dream

Cold and Heavy Silent Golden Dream

A Poem by Marvin K. Mooney
"

Yet another poem about a girl.

"
I can't explain my choice of things to carry --
Love's a crushing weight when borne alone.
Living for you, and without you, takes a heavy toll --
A debt I'll own for always, though I dream.
But I keep watch as cold reality lays siege to me --
The silent fury of unfolding time --
Over memories of golden afternoons with you,
Seared by their pale refrain:
"Her world was never mine."
