A Trick of the Dark

As a child, a black, shadowy entity had trailed Sandra Jones wherever she went like a shadow, whispering in her ear and knocking objects in her path. Recently, the figure disappeared as if it had vanished into thin air. Sandra had never been happier when the voices and disturbances in her life were washed away. Now, she had seen that the small break had lasted only a short time. All these thoughts ran through her brain as she backed away into the corner of the room as the dark figure writhed on the bathroom tiles, begging for Sandra's help. After a few moments, Sandra reached out a hand. As soon as her hand grazed the surprisingly ice-cold blackness, the thing absorbed her, and she knew that she had been tricked.
