Chapter Seven

The past day for Maddy and Kyle had been living hell. Kyle entered a deep stage of depression, to the point that he wouldn't even talk, everyone was staring at Maddy at school. She was growing tired of it.

Today was the night before Kyle's birthday. Maddy lay in bed, thinking. She got up and put on sweat pants and a sweatshirt. Her hair looked like a mess, so she brushed it a little. She checked to see if kyle was asleep and she took 50 bucks from his wallet. She then walked out into the lobby.

She went outside and headed towards his favorite store. She bought him three band shirts and a bunch of band bracelets. She then went to the nearest bakery and bought the biggest cake she could afford. She couldn't afford the writing on it so she would do it at home. She headed back.

Once she was safely in her hotel room she set the cake on the table. She prepared green frosting to write the letters. Green was kyle's favorite color. She wrote "Heres to Freedom. Happy Birthday Kyle. Your Sis, Maddy" She stared at the cake for a while. She then got some toothpicks and carefully removed the "Heres to freedom" part. She sighed. She looked for her suit case and found what she was looking for. She still had balloons and gift wrapping paper.she blew up balloons and taped them to the walls. She wrapped his presents and set them on the table. She set eighteen small candles on the cake. She lit every one. Kyle woke up and snuck up on her when she was looking for the plates

"Boo!" he said

"Ahh!" Maddy jumped

They laughed together

"Hey" Maddy said, "You laughed."

"I guess i did." kyle smiled

He was happy because officially, they don't have to listen to any parents anymore.

Parents.... Maddy shook her head

"Happy birthday" she said, and gave him a hug.

They ate cake in silence.

"Gift time?" kyle asked excitedly.

"Fine" Maddy said rolling her eyes playfully.

He opened his gifts. Gasping and laughing. He loved his presents

"Hey, urm, i wanna warn you. I'm going to have to have a party tonight. Some of my friends are bringing beer" he said

"Do you want me to leave?" Maddy asked

"If you want to...." he said

"Maybe i can stay but not drink" Maddy said

"Okay."

They cleaned up and prepared for the part.

Hmm... Kyle still drinks even though his mother was a drunk. I don't like him as much as I once did now. And I can already tell that the party's going to be a disaster. Maddy's in deep dog-doo. I'm anxious about what happens next.
