Chapter Five

Maddy awoke the next day. Her head was bandaged.

"What happened?" she asked

"Mom" kyle replied from the corner

Maddie turned and looked at him. He looked like he hadn't slept.

"Oh" Maddy said.

Maddy turned and looked at the clock. It real four in the morning.

"Am i well enough to go to school?" Maddy asked

"If you want to...." kyle sounded concerned.

"Yeah. I don't like missing too many days" Maddy said with a smile

"Alright..." Kyle helped her get up.

Then Maddy went and took a shower, after kyle put plastic around the bandage. She wouldn't be able to take it off. She sighed. Kyle said the doctor put it on. The doctor had to come to our house. Maddy Sighed

The warm water felt good against Maddy's skin. She wanted to stay there forever. She thought about what happened last night. Her mom had never hit her with anything but her hand. Maddy got out of the shower and looked in the mirror. She had a black eye from Eric. She sighed. She put on her bathrobe and went to her room. She could hear Kyle downstairs, making breakfast. She went to her room and saw her pink skirt, with her white shirt on her bed. Her cute boots on the floor next to her bed. She smiled. She changed into then and went downstairs, it was still a half and hour until school.

Maddy sat down and kyle put a plate with eggs and bacon in front of her. He served orange juice into a cup and handed it to her too. 

"Thanks" Maddy said. She began to eat. It smelled great.

"Two days" kyle said

"until what?" Maddy asked

"We get the hell out of here" kyle said with a frown.

Maddy finished her breakfast and went to hug him.

She gave him a quick smile goodbye. She went to the door and Kyle gave Maddy her backpack and jacket. They gave each other a quick hug.

Once Maddy was a few blocks away, she put on a hat and made sure it hit her bandage and she put on some dark sunglasses to hide her black eye.

As she walked up to the front doors everyone stared. Eric told everyone we were through huh?

"Hey" an old friend of Maddy's said. They hadn't talked in ages. "You and Eric are through?" she asked

Of course my long time friend who stopped talking to me ages ago would start talking to me again just to get juicy gossip. Well, since she went through all that trouble, i might as well give her something good Maddy thought

"Yeah" Maddy said

"Why?" she asked

"Well," She said. She took off her sunglasses slowly.

Her friend gasped and put her hand to her mouth.

Maddy put her glasses back on and went to the office.

"Hello, may i speak to the principal?" Maddy asked

Eric was in the desk in the corner. His body went tense when he saw her, and heard what she said.

"Sure" the front desk lady said

Maddy walked to the principals private office in the back. She knocked on the door

"Come in" she heard him said

"Hello" Maddy said

"Hello" Principal K said

"I would like to ask for a pass to wear my hat and sun glasses all day." Maddy asked

"Why?" he asked

She took off her hat and sunglasses and the Principal sat up.

"Oh" he said

"Yeah" Maddy said.

"I'm sorry Miss Martin but i cannot give you a pass. If i did all the other students wouldn't think its fair and they would come and ask me for passes." he said

"I understand" Maddy said

She walked out of the room, ignoring the principals pleads for forgiveness. She threw her hat and sunglasses in the trash.

She would have to face the crowd.

I feel very sorry for Maddy...I wouldn't be able to get through the day. I would have died of embarrassment...and I would have had a break down. She is a tough cookie... I love her. Thanks for sharing. :D
