the fallen gandharva गन्धर्व

the fallen gandharva गन्धर्व

A Poem by Igor G. Balatsky
"

from ‘The Way of Grass’

"

how i wish i could sing

a new ode to joy for Thee

but i left my rich voice

somewhere

how i wish i composed

the full moon sonata for Thee

but i lost my clearest

vision

all i have is explicit belief

all i’m able is chanting Thy Name

in the deep of my fidgety

heart

as Thou seest i’m nothing at all

but Thy servant who fell down here

from the planet of singing

gandharvas

Author's Note

Igor G. Balatsky
In Hinduism, the gandharvas are male nature spirits, husbands of the Apsaras. Some are part animal, usually a bird or horse. They have superb musical skills. They guarded the Soma and made beautiful music for the demigods in their palaces. A gandharva means a singer in the court of Gods. In Hindu theology, gandharvas act as messengers between the gods and humans. (From Wikipedia)

Radha and Lakshmi would be very proud of this you know Igor! It has a devotional hue and great cadence.

I liked the 3rd stanza most especially.
