That Moment

That Moment

A Poem by Ifreakinloveyou

     That moment was but an instant,
                 a flash,
       One tic of the second hand,
              Then gone;
Much faster, I might add, than it had come.

        I'd waited my whole life it seemed,
             for that one chance.
And like that, with time snapping its cruel fingers,
                it was over.

One misstep, one word not spoken
         changed the course forever.
It sent the train hurling off the tracks

      And, knowing the outcome,
  I knew the pain I would endure;
      But I alone could do nothing to stop it.
                           -S.G.
