PsychoA Poem by Ieuan CilgwriWhat's worse? Fear or reality? Largely inspired by the book "American Psycho" by Brett Easton Ellis. Although some of this is projection of my own fears and probably ignorance.Hands still, considered, at peace Why do cameras focus on them?
Eyes hollow, a shark - you watch on Expressionless, no life or perspective Slide onto back seat and (re)fix your glaze Of resumption, not redemption Your contempt felt deep
Perfect grooming
Not a hair out of place as
Answering glibly, without substance Artfully revealing nothing
How long have your parents been dead? How many of your friends, imagined or otherwise
Have seen a little beneath to the real horror?
Calmness portrayed belies polar natures of your extreme Presently masked, revealing much via inconsistency
Not for you, I guess, a charnel house
Or grisly haul of dismembered corpses
Fragments of bone and cloth
Stark light on bare soiled bricks
A manner of `ever so, ever so` - I dread those fingers have Pursued violence with unnatural strength Peace a spent quest
If I`m wrong, I could be forgiven - we know that
Lines between dreams, nightmares and reality blurs Metaphor or evidence for crime may be found close by as Stranger has happened Be sure sins find you out
