Letters & Words.

Letters & Words.

A Poem by Puja
"

For Laura.

"

Write me a letter with your secrets inside

Whisper your words and seal them tight,

Addressed and mailed miles to me

It’s been everywhere you can’t be,

I’ll open it and watch letters touch grey skies

Then catch the syllable butterflies,

I’ll string them together like Christmas lights,

Then catch the wind and fly them like kites,

And just before they sail away on grace

I’ll take hold and shoot them into space,

They dance in currents of black without fear,

Until they ignite and burn up in the atmosphere,

Dragging down darkness and sky

And setting fire to this lonely night,

Cascading down a solid frame

They search for a familiar name,

Finally resting upon Earth’s warm face

They untangle themselves and separate,

Radiating and glowing with whispered light

They patiently wait to wake and rise,

Finally when the moon says she’s done

Your words explode and become the sun,

Spilling light on a mysterious place

And bringing sense to this new day,

Shining across the land and beside sea,

Above the sky and back to me.

I’ll write you a letter with my love inside,

Close my heart, and seal it tight...
