In The Dark

In The Dark

A Poem by idiotproof--1

Don't come to save me

I don't want to be found.

Let me stay hidden

from judging eyes.

Let me stay in darkness

where I can't see this body I've grown to hate.

I don't want to open my eyes

and see the wounds this world has inflicted on me.

I hear the cries of “someone kill me”

from the others in this place.

Colours can't reach us anymore.

Laughter is a distant memory

and yet

I feel comfortable here.

The darkness of despair is kinder

than the harsh brightness of knowledge.

There is a lot of truth in this. How cruel people can be and how profound the effect it can have. This is an excellent poem that many can relate to. Well done!
Thanks,
Alan
