Imaginary Friends

Imaginary Friends

A Poem by idiotproof--1

I am not real.

I only exist in her mind.

Because she is obsessed with me

she can't let me go.

She feels incomplete

like something is missing

and she fills the emptiness

with imaginary friends.

I'm not actually here

but I'll be missed if I'm gone.

I am not real

but I want to be alive.

Ok... forgive me for the dumb-sounding expression, but this is really tugging my heartstrings right now. For some reason, I immediately thought of one of the characters from a story I am writing when I started reading this, and this entire poem fits that situation perfectly. It kind of really freaked me out. I imagined him saying all of those things, and they pertained so well to me. Way to write an extremely feels-inducing poem - I applaud you for your ability to look so clearly into my head. Excellent work!

I love the ending, how the imaginary friend wants to be alive.
Love it!
Keep it up!
