Mirror

my first try at a love poem

I wake to catch a fleeting glimpse of you

for only a second I know what love is 

as you disappear so does the feeling and I am numb again

I fall into a cold sleep and in my head I see you

I feel your warm embrace 

like a fire in my soul

the love is gone when you are 

but the wonder stays

what would it feel like to actually touch you

if my eyes met just once with yours

would they open to the rest of this world

and stop seeing only darkness

if your lips touched mine would I be able to speak sweet gentle words

instead of the poison daggers that fall from my lips

though your a world away 

if I ever reached for you would you reach back

do you wonder who the mysterious girl

dim and cold is

do you ever ask who the woman ushered by shadows could be

as I do about that fiery girl

warm and untamed

the one who cuts through my darkness

I just know your the one for me

after all my world is only a reflection of yours

I am only a reflection of you 

one world apart 

far enough to never meet 

but close enough to dream.

Very cool! I really like the first few lines. Nice hot vs cold imagery throughout... also, "the poison daggers that fall from my lips" is impressive. I love the last two lines, and I am intrigued by the idea of reflections in the final part of the poem. Nicely written!
