Little FishA Poem by ZacOne of my best slam poems.I didn’t come to Hawaii
to see a volcano I came to dive in the sea I want to see the fish. I want to breath underwater. So I took a scuba class. Now I’m weightless and slide with ease through the homes of millions out of the old into the new. Disrupting the inhabitants watching T.V. I am in their lives for only a flash. then gone, and I’m sinking down through the darkness, bubbles flowing up and I realize I can’t breath and I struggle against the weight pulling me down As water hits my face Like the water of a gym shower you use just after lifting the weights only to see that its hanging on my legs like a child on his mother’s tired arm at the supermarket and I’m sinking. I struggle again and can’t free my legs the chain coils like a snake around its prey, slowly choking the air from it. And I am sinking. Faster, now the bubbles flow by and I stop struggling. Stop flailing. I accept it. That I AM Sinking. The darkness slowly fades a new light replaces it. The bubbles stop my toes hit the cold sand. Fish swim by. Slowly I’m engulfed by light I wake up and see I’m next to you and I wish I was sinking. © 2013 ZacAuthor's Note
