Austin

Austin

A Poem by ICS

my memory-fade
echoing decade
decays
pre-rain smell of soil
plays on haze
slung resentment on my back

reason enough, visitation sublime
sub-par notion in the motion of mind
floating emotion, radical start
sitting on a couch two together apart
too alone in the dark
possessing all the others with awareness depart
blinded by the light from the TV cart
camouflaged... closing in...
old hearts beating as a new one again

come back tomorrow and sit on the porch
have a little kiss and correspondence of course
"You should move to Austin" more kissing ensues
"Let's write!" "OK!" different ways with the blues.

A letter sent, a letter returned
Half a heart whole caused the other to burn
extinguished time, put out with tears
Would Austin be 'weird' after all these years?
