UnfetteredA Poem by icelandicblue
She stood against a backdrop of flaming red petals,
her memories shut tight inside a heart shaped box filled with a time she could almost touch but never reach. Their fragrance had waned with passing years. Immersed in the now kept that box shut so that she could keep her mind from wandering into fields so deeply textured, filled with a raw beauty of a love lost that had splintered into thorns. The things that can pierce us the deepest sometimes dull over time but still they have the ability to draw blood and conjure a dizzying kaleidoscope of thought. This was her looking glass into a world of soft rouged lips flawlessly pursed with promise and the belief of a more so elusive she could not find words for it, just colors, imbued with the naiveté of fleeting youth. Yet in all things there are lessons if you are willing to learn. Some seeds lie dormant waiting for a signal to root, grow and bloom, so she took a breath and thrust the trowel deep into the ground smoothed her dress, sat, and smelled the rich soil of unfettered possibility. © 2016 icelandicblueReviews
