Living In The Void Of Being

Living In The Void Of Being

A Poem by icelandicblue

My hand breaks through the ground
I rise without a sound
I am resurrected
I have been selected

To live another day
my hope will not give way
to the utter starkness
feeding off the darkness

One step up, two steps back
life's plagues will still attack
try to hold my head high
got another black eye

I walk down this steep slope
all I can do is cope
tangled in this big mess
pushing down the distress

My hand breaks through the ground
I rise without a sound
I am resurrected
I have been selected.

Thanks Poppy, I appreciate your take on this poem.
makes me start to cry ... love the resurrected ..one foot plods in front of the other ... clings to hope ... not dead yet says i ... your title is a statement and poem of wonderful depth all by itself ... i am a bit speechless over this one ... you are magnificent Icey .. your poem hit the mark in my heart for sure ..

Thank you Einstein. Your comments are a bright spot in my day!
Reminds me of a 'Zombie' who's not exactly sure what his/her role in life is, live or die which is it to be?

A dark angst filled creatively written and though-provoking poetic write, sublime indeed !

I just watched World War Z yesterday and I most definitely see your point. Thank you. .. read more
The rhyme and rhythm here are flawless, but this poem is most impressive in its emotion. We get up, we fall down... we get up again, because Life demands our presence... Excellent, Blue.

Thanks Rita. One step at a time.
i love the entire poem, but these four lines really hit home for me...
I walk down this steep slope
all I can do is cope
tangled in this big mess
pushing down the distress
...and somehow through this darkness, the sun rises and we find ourselves in a new day...learning to cope.
Your creativity shines in this wonderful piece.
:) Julie

Thanks so much for such a lovely review.
A suffocating yet liberated read...felt that feeling of being buried alive. We resurrect ourselves many times over, 'selected' was an interesting choice, made me ponder that thought....as always, excellence from your affecting pen Anne.

Mother's guilt that's why......it's like our own personal religion.
Whenever life knocks us down we must always rise up even when we feel as if we can't because we must never give up .Tomorrow may be a brighter day :)

Yes we can always hope for better day.You are welcome :)
As long as we accept ourselves for who we are it don't matter what others think. But the self confidence you impose upon yourself will bring forth the real people that believe in you.

You are very welcome.
Despite each new adversity we rise again to face the next. Knowing we are so tired...in so much pain and really feel we can't face what's coming. Once again I relate deeply to one of your current writes. The fourth stanza especially...that dlope downwards...tangled in all the mess but hoping you can stay upright. I know you are going through so much my friend... sigh..x
