The Taste of Dark Water

The Taste of Dark Water

A Poem by icelandicblue

There is a stillness
when sinking into dark water.
A calm that envelops you
after the storm has passed

and you are spent,
bruised from the dashing of the rocks
and the slaps of the whitecaps,
no longer gasping for air.

Sinking slowly in graceful balletic turns,
time has left with a long list
of others to push toward the shore,
and the relief is immense and welcome.

And through the murky water
there is a sense of clarity
for in all things there is an end
but to truly understand it

we must remember the beauty of how it all began.

You are brilliant, and it shows again, Anne... very touching also here, and on David Scott's write tonight, I read, the water theme, that spreads out the calm, after accepting the fear of drowning somehow...

A comforting rebirth I sense here, I feel so much through this write, as I told Scott too, tonight. It could be about the airplaine that finally was found today, in the Asian Sea, but also it could be about personal rebirth, and the art of helping others, by your comforting words.

It's a total package of love my friend... enjoyed this on all layers.

You are most welcome, dear, and peace to you too!
This is lovely.. Your words took me to eternal love...after the initial flutter of butterflies and longing to always be with that person - settling into a forever love.... happily ever after and all that jazz!

A stunning poem.

Thank you...serenity is something I think we all crave and deserve.
You turn chaos into something lovely and peaceful, a feeling whom not very many can ascertain. It does sound beautiful sometimes, drowning in some foggy sea, letting everything end and sinking into infinity.

I got something entirely different from this, but maybe my mind is MATURE and just goes there. Either way, it is a great and beautiful write with a sensual feel.

Sounds about right BR. Thanks so much.
Time has left with a long list of others to push toward the shore, and the relief is immense and welcome...a rivetingly sombre and powerful piece my friend, but scattered with bits of hope throughout...also a price rich in interpretative possibilities. It's hard to not take a measure of foreboding from the image of sinking in any kind of water, let alone dark, but you've infused it with an element of salvation which is a unique way of looking at it. Great and thought-provoking work as always.

Sometimes we are battered in the depths of our pain and we turn inwards to a place where we find a sort of numbness. What weve lost slips away and we gain a new perspective on what we still have. You leave me in awe with your words. The past months have been a horrible time for you...yet your resilience is evident. I wish you all the best in your life Anne...hugs x

Your poem has discovered tranquility. Consciousness is a dynamic characteristic of the universe. Like a wave it must eternally crest and trough . Death is nothing but a momentary trough, the harbinger of a rising crest., a beginning.
