Along The Fault

Along The Fault

A Poem by icelandicblue

Beneath the deepest drifts
there sits an avalanche of emotion
in stasis, frozen and waiting
for the ice to melt, biding time..

until the warm breath of rebirth blows

across the chords of hope
and fear in equal measure.
Cautious steps along the fault guide me
toward the vastness of the ice-imbued sea.

My breath clouds escape despite
the icy grasp of failure upon my throat
that moans and cracks beneath my resolve,
still the first notes of victory escape

from the space between parted blue lips.

Heavy sigh here, I know this one, I felt this one, I live within this tundra, I know you do too.

"until the warm breath of rebirth blows"

It all blows if you ask me, not sure what to say, you know my thoughts are with you, we need to go out for that umbrella's drink soon! Glad to hear that first note...hope you get to sing the entire song soon.

like tip toeing in eggshells, I felt an anxiousness when reading this work. Like I was still married. Not exactly wonderful feelings, but certainly your poem evoked emotions and memories. Well done.

Only thing left is an avalanche, but I bet you will survive better then most. I like your strength and endurance that seems to support your words.

It Shows.. Well Done Soldier of Life :-)
this is such a timely metaphor...with the blizzards and ice all across the states...

and the emotion is like living along a fault line...which we do here in southern illinois...we are always wondering...

what will happen or more likely the better question...when?

You have a good eye jacob. Thanks so much for your comment.
Oh Anne, I know you are going through a rough patch right now and that this is the first piece you've written in a while but know that we are all here for you and thinking of you and your family right now.

This poem speaks volumes, it is deep and you've poured your heart on to the page as always. I am totally seconding what Red has said.

Well done hon, I am totally speechless.

Teehee, thanks my luv!
Frozen in that state of dissapointment, fear and lost hope we can't begin to imagine thawing out. Theres too much risk involved...to our hearts and minds. We simply can't bear anymore. So we wait...tensed...breath held..praying for the moment when once again we can arise from the icy depths to live again. x

It was my pleasure
This one is one of your finest I have read....

My breath clouds escape despite
the icy grasp of failure upon my throat
that moans and cracks beneath my resolve,
allowing the first notes of victory to escape

Deep sadness, emotions and you define death in your own way.... Amazing
