A Sliver Against The Trees

A Sliver Against The Trees

A Poem by icelandicblue

Twilight, the most bewitching

of moments, where colors spill

from a painter’s palette and

fill the sky with the heated hues,

that blaze beyond my myopic world.

Fall’s frigid air thick and heavy

displaces my weariness.

I am Sisyphus cursed

with a burdensome stone

burnished smooth by insanity.

Here in the betwixt

I am at my most content.

Free from harsh daylight and

the deadened cloak of night

I linger, a sliver against the trees,

reveling in this limbo hour

where demands lie still and

the beat of my heart slows

allowing a deep fresh breath

…of nothing.

Anne, my favorite time of day is twilight, when the earth is quiet and the skies are slowly disappearing behind the blanket of night. I read your beautiful poem three times and each time it took me deeper into this wonderful realm. Such peace finds me as I read this today. Very beautiful and serene.
