A Box of Paradox

A Box of Paradox

A Poem by icelandicblue
"

Weird ramblings of an overtaxed mind.

"

The living earth
houses dead
children beneath
her skin, and

in death greatness is
discovered by zealots
who spill blood
for a thirsty god,
and find themselves
revered in his place.

The child who was
wanted then wasn't,
its birth a gift
then a prison.

The old man's mind
no longer holds
his son's name. Yet
his sire still insists
on calling him father.

Is my clone really
me if it has
no memories?

A box of paradox
is tied up tight beneath
my bed, but I sleep
no better for it.

Take the compliment lol. You are very smart.
This write is brilliant, really. You packed a powerful punch in a few lines and didn't bemoan what you were conveying. Very much enjoyed!

the poetry i love best comes from an exhausted, unguarded mind ... a moment when no concerns for others' opinions restricts or censors the ...... raw

your dear heart suffers eloquently in the folds of so much treachery, blue, like fever dreams that beg only rest but are cursed with overs and overs ......... a high water mark in your writing, my friend.

oh ... you are an inspiration and r.e.m.i.n.d. me that only truth matters. thank you for that. x
Wonderful! You have such a talent for condensing topics of unfathomable depth into tight, eloquent boxes of paradoxical logic. Each stanza inspires a multitude of offshoot thoughts, and each could be a branching point for a story of its own. Just brilliant!

Why thank you very much! I am humbled by your words.
I'm a Libra and I over analyze way to much thus my box of paradox won't fit under my bed. So many contradictions in life in boggles my mind. I've considered each of the examples in your poems many times over. Fantastic Anne!

Thanks Red, I'm a Leo we just tend to burn things up!

This is amazing...really excellent :) So many things, for one side there is always another and goodness, it tilts the scales at times in life but also shines new avenues of thoughts and inspirations...this inspired me x

Poppy-

Thank you so much for that. I am humbled that it inspired.
Our world revolves around contradictions...or so it would often seem! Yet, it is that inconguousness that brings a spark to our lives, Blue. You bring up a few very good "pondering points" here. What happens when a parent has alzheimers? Does the child become less of an offspring? What happens when the gift of a new life becomes the ball and chain of responsibility? We all deal with these seemingly logical then illogical events differently.....and you have brought them to us here. I will be thinking about this one a long time, Blue. Very well written. lydi**

Thank you so much for such an in-depth response Lydi!
If after a life's journey, what does happen when the soul has not found completion?

another paradox for the box I think. Thanks sweetbind.
Now this I can enjoy!
What a fine debate a group of thinkers could enjoy using the questions you pose here.
I am not lost on the last stanza either. The last line is what ties this write to the pen so well...
You pose an unspoken question here as well, "How does a soul find rest?"
Wonderful!
